Secured Mail appoints Owen

UK-based Secured Mail has appointed Mike Owen as its new finance director. Owen has been taken on to oversee the finances and support the existing management team as the business prepares for the next stage of its growth strategy.

Secured Mail became a licensed postal operator in April 2006, and now commands a turnover in excess of £38m (2010).

Owen, a certified accountant, has previously held senior roles at Baker Tilly, Alliance & Leicester and Littlewoods Shop Direct Group.

More recently, he has spent more than three years at Stewart Group, where he was group financial controller for the business.

Commenting on his new role, Owen said: “My appointment is in line with the management team starting to explore new opportunities and build on the growth experienced so far.  It’s pretty clear to see there is more to come from Secured Mail.”

Mark Bigley, managing director at Secured Mail, added: “We are aiming to deliver 1bn postal items per year and Mike’s expertise is an ideal fit, not only with our business culture but with our vision for the future.

“Secured Mail has experienced phenomenal growth supported by an exceptionally strong customer base and it is this we plan to build on through new and innovative ideas that add value.”
