Swiss Post expands logistics offer in Italy

Acquires logistics firm Constanzia, creates SPI base in Northern Italy. Swiss Post has expanded its distribution network in Italy. The Group international division (SPI) has taken over the Italian logistics provider Costanzia, based in the Turin region. The price of the deal was not disclosed.

The takeover was affected by the Swiss Post International subsidiary Swiss Post Porta a Porta S.p.A. The current workforce of ten was also taken over. Costanzia specialises in providing logistics services in the business to business sector and handles complete logistics processes on behalf of companies.

The new location, which is located in Leini, gives SPI an important base for itself in Northern Italy, thereby strengthening its position in the Italian logistics market and underpinning its strategic partnership with Hermes Porta a Porta.

Hermes Porta a Porta is a subsidiary of Germany’s Hermes Logistik Gruppe (HLG). The two partners continue to focus on their respective core competencies. Swiss Post Porta a Porta concentrates on the cross-border letter business and other logistics services for the joint delivery network, while Hermes Porta a Porta focuses on business to customer parcel distribution in Italy.
