Kuehne + Nagel expands partnership with the MetaPack Group into the UK

The MetaPack Group, a provider of eCommerce technology delivery services, today announced an agreement with global logistics provider Kuehne + Nagel to extend the existing contract into the UK market. Under the new agreement, MetaPack will provide Kuehne + Nagel with an end-to-end enterprise delivery management solution integrated with more than 200 carriers across Europe.

The MetaPack Group which is responsible for 80% of the UK’s leading retailers – including Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, ASOS and B&Q – is growing in Europe following the acquisition of the German company XLogic last year. MetaPack is expanding XLogic’s relationship with Kuehne + Nagel into the UK market to enable retailers to offer more choice and convenience at all stages of the parcel journey.

The technology that lies behind this proposition is based on the integration of the XLogics Shipping Centre with MetaPack’s delivery management platform. This enterprise delivery management solution integrates with the Kuehne + Nagel’s Warehouse Management System CIEL, providing a single platform for managing shipping and delivery services to UK retail customers.

The merging of resources will enable UK retailers to offer more delivery options to their customers as well as more flexible, convenient and affordable delivery services. The operations will be managed by Kuehne + Nagel’s central carrier management team in the UK.

Patrick Wall, CEO of MetaPack said “We look forward to working with Kuehne + Nagel to help them expand their presence in the UK.”

“Our data suggests that this year, UK retailers will handle approximately 900 million orders and 940 million parcels, signifying a 16-19% growth compared to the same period last year. This is a huge opportunity for established players like Kuehne + Nagel to meet the demand for convenient, affordable and scalable delivery services, whilst helping retailers manage the growing volume of orders in the UK,” he added.

Joshua Brimley, General Manager eCommerce, at Kuehne + Nagel UK commented: “We are very excited about integrating MetaPack with our core shipping systems as part of continuous efforts to improve our technology infrastructure and provide superior services to our clients.”

“As our customers grew over the years, supporting a number of bespoke carrier relationships became costly and complex. With MetaPack, we will be able respond to the growing demand for fast, flexible delivery services in the UK and Europe, whilst keeping IT and carrier management costs down,” he added.

Kuehne + Nagel UK currently serves a number of major players in the market. The company has plans to deliver more value to their customers by introducing new service capabilities, such as improved website usability, advanced delivery claims management and fraud detection technologies.
