MP’s visit marks construction at new Europa hub

Gareth Johnson MP visited Prologis Park Littlebrook in Dartford, to celebrate the start of construction work on the new 262,500 square foot site that Prologis is developing for Europa Worldwide Logistics. Europa, one of the UK’s privately owned transport companies, announced the massive investment earlier in the year and the new facility will open in spring 2015.  At this time, all 230 Europa staff based at it’s existing site in Erith will move to Littlebrook.

The site features a new state-of-the-art head office, a southern hub designed to support the company’s road freight operations plus a new logistics operation. Europa signed a lease agreement with Prologis, the global owner, operator and developer of industrial real estate, for the new facility which will be built to meet the company’s exact requirements.

“I am delighted to welcome Europa to Dartford,” said Gareth Johnson, Conservative MP for Dartford. “This new facility is a major investment and it has the potential to bring new jobs for local people.  It is very good news that Prologis has been able to meet Europa’s requirements at Littlebrook and I am certain that the company will become a valued member of the local community.”

The new facility, which has been designed to achieve a minimum BREAAM 2011 ‘very good’ accreditation and the best EPC rating possible for its size.

Andrew Baxter, Managing Director of Europa, commented: “This is the biggest single investment that the company has ever made and is an exciting step for the business. As well as the new hub and HQ, Littlebrook will increase our capacity to handle contract logistics an area of the business that has seen massive growth, particularly in the e-commerce sector.

“Darford is in an ideal location for our growing business, allowing easy access to continental Europe as well as to the rest of southern England.  We have worked closely with Prologis to design a state-of-the-art facility that will increase our capacity massively and help us to provide the best possible service to our customers for years to come..”
