AliExpress teams with Pos Indonesia and SingPost to improve cross-border shipping

Alibaba Group’s international retail marketplace AliExpress is to work with Singapore Post and Pos Indonesia to improve shipping options for Indonesian consumers. The company said the partnership should allow faster delivery times for items being shipped from China to Jakarta.

Indonesians shopping on the AliExpress website will see purchases from its Chinese retailers arriving within two weeks, rather than the previous 35-day wait.

The companies said the new service will be launched “soon”, with a launch date announced later this month.

“We are excited to work with local businesses to enhance the shopping experience for local consumers in Indonesia,” said Joe Yan, Director, Global Operations and Expansion Strategy, AliExpress.com.

“Through such cooperation, consumers can now shop in an easy and secure way for millions of products including Indonesian brands that they love. We are confident that we can continuously improve the online-shopping environment and thus provide the best value online for our global consumers, including consumers in Indonesia.”

Goh Hui Ling, senior vice president of international mail at Singapore Post, said: “Singapore Post has been strengthening our ecommerce logistics capabilities to meet the growing ecommerce consumer market. Innovation and continuous enhancement is key to us supporting customers’ online shopping experience. We are happy that we are able to provide this new delivery service option to AliExpress with the partnership from Pos Indonesia. Customers in Indonesia stand to enjoy a much cheaper and faster delivery service to complement their shopping experience.”

Mohamad Said Haryadi, the vice president for international services at Pos Indonesia, said: “Pos Indonesia is delighted to support AliExpress and Singapore Post in helping online consumers in Indonesia to buy product available on AliExpress website. We will support this cooperation with our all capacity including 6,000 delivery postmen in all over Indonesia Island. All customers will be able to monitor and trace the goods through website ems.posindonesia.co.id. Pos Indonesia also has support from Indonesia Customs Authority to guarantee the smooth inspection process of these online goods.”

The partnership is kicking off with a series of promotional activities including 24-hour flash sales on popular items such as mobile phones, gadgets and beauty products.

AliExpress said the improved shipping service follows a number of upgrades to its website, including the launch of bilingual pages – Bahasa and English — and the introduction of the payment gateway Doku.
