Siemens Logistics and Airport Solutions acquire AXIT

Siemens Logistics and Airport Solutions has acquired AXIT, the software specialist for cloud-based IT platforms for logistics process management. This acquisition opens up new perspectives for both companies for cross-industry growth in the logistics software business. The transaction is subject to approval by the German Federal Cartel Office and is expected to be completed by April. Both companies have agreed to keep financial details confidential.

AXIT is a provider of cloud-based software solutions in the European logistics sector and has customers in logistics, industry and commerce. Headquartered in Frankenthal (Germany), AXIT also maintains a Software Development Center in Wroclaw, Poland.

Cloud-based software has already become a distinguishing feature in the logistics market and is considered to be key for end-to-end supply chain management. Owing to the ever increasing complexity in logistics, IT is more and more the driver behind innovative solutions for the control and optimization of processes.

Through the merger with AXIT, LAS will become a pioneer of this innovative technology and will be able to provide IT solutions for end-to-end transparency in supply chain management.

“The acquisition of AXIT is a major step for us to strategically reposition our company,” said Michael Reichle, CEO Siemens Logistics and Airport Solutions. “IT, software and the ability to use important logistics information to add value for our customers are key aspects of our innovation strategy. AXIT has excellent products, superior expertise and enjoys an outstanding reputation in the German market. We are pleased to give further strength to our market position through this merger.”

“For AXIT, this is the right way to accelerate our business growth at the international level. LAS has the perfect global organization that is important for us, as well as a global sales network with its own presence, from which we will benefit,” explained Holger Schmitt, CEO of AXIT.
