Swiss Federal Railways to trial Click & Collect service

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) will be working with Switzerland’s largest retail company Migros on the trial of a new Click & Collect service set to start at Zurich’s main train station in September.
Customers will be able to order products using an e-commerce app, and their goods will be ready for collection at the train station within half an hour.

SBB spokesperson Stephan Wehrle confirmed the details of the plan to Swiss news provider Handelszeitung lasts week. Users of the system will be able to choose from around 1,000 “everyday” products.

The PostFinance subsidiary TWINT is also a partner in the project.

This is not SBB’s first foray into Click & Collect territory: it has also offered a service called GoodBox. The new partnership with Migros stands out because of the half-hour delivery promise – a promise which is seen as enticing but also very ambitious.

SBB and Migros plan to trial the new Click & Collect service at Zurich’s main station for nine months, and if it proves successful they will look to roll it out to stations across Switzerland.
