Same-day delivery service in San Francisco Bay area for Apple products

Customers living in the San Francisco Bay area can now use the Apple Store app to request same day deliveries for some Apple products, according to reports. The deliveries are reportedly being made by Postmates, the on-demand courier firm which is headquartered in San Francisco.

The same-day service only applies to products which are available from a nearby Apple store, according to reports. Customers will be notified of the package’s estimated delivery time and tracking number, but will not be able to track its location live on the Apple Store app.

As previously reported, Postmates started up in San Francisco in 2011 and has since set up operations in 25 cities across the US, including Atlanta, Houston, Portland and Phoenix.

Most recently, it started making deliveries in the “Twin Cities” (Minneapolis-St Paul) a couple of weeks ago.

About 80% of Postmates’ deliveries are food to-go from restaurants, but it also provides a one-hour delivery service for local retail stores and it has an established relationship with Apple and the Apple Store app.
