Clipper reports increases in profit and revenue
Logistics company Clipper has reported increases in profit and revenue for the year ended 30 April. Operating profit jumped by almost 25% to more than £12m and revenue was up to £234m from the £201m reported in the previous year.
The company benefited from growth in the e-commerce sector. EBIT in e-fulfilment and returns management were up 48% at £5.5m while sales rose by 32%.
“Our strategy has been to become a market leader in the e-commerce sector, and to be a thought leader in the provision of value-added services across the sector,” said the company.
The costs of last year’s successful IPO were included as exceptional items.
Steve Parkin, executive chairman of Clipper commented:”Our unrivalled understanding of the e-fulfilment and returns market, coupled with our clients’ continually evolving needs in these areas, will ensure that we retain and expand our market share.”
On Friday (24 July), Clipper announced that it was going to start a Click & Collect service with John Lewis (which is already a long-standing client).
