UPS gearing up for peak season

A senior UPS executive has revealed that the company has been working with customers “earlier than in the past” in preparation for the peak season. According to an article published by Louisville Business First, Myron Gray, president of US operations for UPS, told reporters taking part in a conference call yesterday (28 July): “We’ve been collaborating with our customers since the beginning of the year and this is … even earlier than what we’ve done in the past.

“So, we’re certainly going to stay close to what their projections are, and we’ll flex the system based on what we believe the volume pinch points may be.”

As previously reported, speakers at last month’s Mail and Express Delivery Show in London also emphasised the importance of planning ahead as early as possible, and working closely with customers to agree realistic demand forecasts.
