Hermes appoints new COO

Hermes appoints new COO

Hermes has promoted Martijn de Lange to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). The new COO previously held the role of Operations Director since joining the company in March 2013.

Hermes said that the new appointment “recognises the increased size, breadth and complexity of the operations leadership role at Hermes, which has grown in excess of 15% each year for the last five years and now delivers more than 240 million parcels per annum”.

Carole Woodhead, the CEO of Hermes, said: “Martijn has taken the operation on a revolutionary journey since he joined Hermes just over two years ago, using his passion and energy to drive positive change and results, and challenging the culture of our organisation. This is a well earned opportunity for Martijn and recognises the outstanding impact and influence that he has personally had in driving the business forward, particularly with substantial cost, service offer and quality improvements.”

“I look forward to continuing with my current duties along with having a broader responsibility for existing product development, as well as implementing further substantial service and cost improvements,” commented de Lange. “This is a very exciting time for Hermes and the whole business is working hard to cement its position as the market leader.”
