Amazon set to open new UK fulfilment centre in Doncaster

Amazon has announced that it will be opening a new 250,000 sq ft fulfilment centre in Doncaster. The new facility is located on Water Vole Way at the Firstpoint logistic park. The company already has another Doncaster centre: the 415,000 sq ft site on Balby Carr Bank which opened in 2010.

John Tagawa, Vice President of Operations, Amazon UK, commented: “Our existing Doncaster team has done an exceptional job of delivering a first rate level of service for our customers and we are delighted to open another site which will further draw upon the strong pool of talent in the area. We will continue to create new sites, more jobs and provide a wide range of benefits for our employees.”

Amazon currently has eight fulfilment centres in the UK. In addition to the Balby Carr Bank site in Doncaster, it has facilities in Dunfermline, Gourock, Hemel Hempstead, Marston Gate, Peterborough, Rugeley and Swansea Bay.

The new Doncaster centre and a planned new facility in Dunstable – also slated for an Autumn opening – will take the total to 10.
