FedEx Ground set to open new distribution centre in Wilmington

FedEx Ground is looking to open a new distribution centre near Wilmington International Airport, according to local sources. Local media have reported that the facility will be located on the North Kerr Industrial Park, to the north of Wilmington International Airport in North Carolina.

Setzer Properties, a Kentucky-based developer which has worked on a number of FedEx projects, posted a notice on its website on 10 August announcing that it had been awarded a built-to-suit contract with FedEx for the Wilmington development.

The Setzer statement added: “This project is scheduled to be complete spring 2016. This facility is designed to be a 213,508 square foot distribution warehouse on 25.3 acres.”

On 20 July, Setzer posted a notice to say that it won a contract for  a FedEx Ground built-to-suit project in Asheville (which is also in North Carolina). “This project is scheduled to be complete summer 2016,” said Setzer. “This facility is designed to be a 95,052 square foot distribution warehouse on 36.34 acres.”

Other FedEx projects that Setzer is working on include a 22,840 square foot distribution warehouse in Fairbanks, Alaska (announced on 26 May).
