Russian Post and China Post sign cooperative agreement

Russian Post’s General Director Dmitry Strashnov and Li Guohua, the President of China Post Group, have signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations and work together on the development of cross-border trade. The agreement was signed on 3 September, during the course of Russian President Vladimar Putin’s visit to China.

According to an official statement sent to Post&Parcel by Russian Post, the two postal operators intend to deliver mail by rail with goods trains and passenger-trains.

“Moreover,” added Russian Post’s statement, “the postal administrations are going to start a new logistic solution that will help to deliver mail from China to Russia in assured 7-days term.

“Goods from key Chinese online-shops will be brought to logistic hubs in China, processed with highest priority and delivered to Russian cities.

“Coverage area, marking method and other technological characteristics of the new service will be determined by the partners by November 1, 2015.”

Commenting on the agreement, Russian Post’s Strashnov said: “We are glad that our cooperation with China Post is active and profitable. Today more than 80% of international incoming mail comes to Russia from PRC.

“The concerted efforts of Russian Post and China Post to improve logistic routes and to reduce the delivery terms will additionally animate the development of e-commerce and the growth of the goods exchange between our countries.”

China Post’s Li Guohua added: “Russian Post is one of the long-term partners of China Post. In recent years, we have seen not only the exponential growth of cross-border mail, but also the active work of Russian Post crew in improving the quality of service, introduction of new services for clients.

“Together we will work through new ways and methods of processing and delivery of mail. Russian clients will get their orders from online shops more quickly.”
