Triangle unveils World Post & Parcel Awards

Triangle unveils World Post & Parcel Awards

Rebranded Awards will recognise Global Excellence in the Post & Parcel business. Triangle Management Services has rebranded its World Mail Awards as the World Post & Parcel Awards, in order to reflect the changes taking place in the mail and express delivery industry.

The Awards are presented in an evening ceremony held as part of the annual World Mail & Express Europe Show, which in 2016 will take place on 14-16 June in Warsaw, Poland.

When the Awards were first launched in 2000, mail was very much a dominant communications media and, for the national posts, the parcels business was of secondary importance.

Today, physical mail remains hugely significant and will continue to feature in award categories and in the winners, but it is e-commerce parcels delivery that has become the key growth area.

This change has led to a huge shift of emphasis for posts and provided exciting opportunities for parcels operators.

Tom Ross-Joannou, Triangle’s Managing Director of Media and Events, explains how the Awards are evolving to reflect this new world: “At Triangle we believe it is now appropriate to re-name the World Mail Awards to reflect these huge changes in our industry. Over the last few years Triangle’s news portal www.postandparcel.info has become a well-established brand in its own right, and the Post & Parcel name better reflects the changed environment. Hence the new name World Post & Parcel Awards.

“We believe that it is important to continue include the word ‘World’. These have always been Awards which recognise world class breakthroughs wherever in the globe they occur.”

The re-branding has also provided an opportunity to reinvigorate the Award categories.

The Industry Leadership Award – which is probably the most prized of all – has traditionally gone to someone from a national post. But from 2016 onwards the judges will consider nominations of outstanding leaders from parcels and express players as well as from posts.

Triangle will be debuting two new Awards in 2016:

•    Cross Border Growth
In an increasingly globalised world, and thanks to the Internet, individuals have unparalleled opportunities to communicate, and to procure goods and services, from around the world.

This award will recognise those companies which can demonstrate that they have stimulated cross border growth in physical mail and/or in parcels.

Applicants can be operating in any part of the cross border value chain for physical mail or for parcels, from the creation of the physical piece or the provision of a web portal, through the development of enabling software, the management of customs issues and facilitation of returns, up to and including the actual physical delivery.

•    Delivery on Demand
The receiving customer, particularly the e-commerce purchaser, is more demanding than ever before. Delivery is becoming increasingly personalised in such areas as when, where and how.  Consumers look for pre-advice of delivery, the ability to determine time and location, the option to pick up their parcels from lockers, retail outlets and so on.

This award is focused on that on demand process. Applicants will be required to:
– explain the inputs they use to help define the consumer requirements of  the delivery process;
– explain the degree to which delivery has been  made flexible in such areas as time and location, and other dimensions as appropriate;
– demonstrate the degree of that flexibility, for example what products and services offer delivery flexiblity, and the way in which consumers can make their requirements known; and
– outline the cost involved either for the sending or receiving customer.

In addition to Industry Leadership, Cross Border Growth and Delivery on Demand, the World Post & Parcel Awards will also recognise global excellence in: Corporate Social Responsibility; Customer Service; e-Commerce; Innovation; People Management; Retail Customer Access; and Technology.
