Is it a plane, is it a helicopter…?
Swiss drone manufacturer Wingtra has announced that it will be demonstrating an “aerial robot” at this year’s CeBIT show that “combines the advantages of airplanes and helicopters”. Wingtra, which is a spin-off from the Autonomous Systems Lab at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, says that its machine can “fly like a plane, land like a helicopter” – thereby combining the best of both worlds. The drone will have a top speed of around 100 km per hour and a range of up to 60 km.
Sources report that the Wingtra system will carry a payload of up to 1.5kg, which would be enough for “carrying small deliveries”.
