Ocado to set up fourth fulfilment centre

Online supermarket Ocado has entered into an agreement for a fourth UK customer fulfilment centre, which is expected to be operational in 2017. The new facility will be based in Erith in South West London. The project, which has yet to be given planning permission, will be developed by Bericote Properties.

Ocado currently has customer fulfilment centres in Hatfield and Dordon, and a new facility in Andover is scheduled to open later this year.

As previously reported, Ocado recently reported that it had turn in a profit in 2015 and there has been much speculation that the company might be entertaining the idea of some sort of tie-up with Amazon.
