Update on GLS and DB Schenker partnership

GLS has reported that it started delivering parcels in Germany for DB Schenker this month – and in return DB Schenker will transport general cargo on pallets for GLS customers “in the future”. As previously reported by Post&Parcel, GLS and DB Schenker officially announced that they were forming a strategy partnership in September 2015.

Now, in a statement issued on Friday (18 March) GLS confirmed that it has started the parcel deliveries in Germany and added: “From now on German customers of DB Schenker can hand over anything they wish to send, from parcels to complete cargo. GLS now handles the national and European-wide distribution of parcels. The IT interfaces between the two and their business processes were adjusted ahead of time, warranting smooth procedures and transparency.

“The aim of DB Schenker is to offer European-wide parcel logistics through GLS, thus providing a full range of services in its land transport product portfolio. The two companies are already cooperating in Denmark, Sweden and Austria. The parcel cooperation in Germany is a further milestone in the collaboration between the two companies.”
