Post Danmark launches “Quickbrev” service

Post Danmark launches “Quickbrev” service

Just a few weeks after it announced the imminent demise of the “A-breve” first class letter, Post Danmark has launched a new service, called Quickbrev”, which offers next-day mail deliveries. But Quickbrev is not just a reprieved “A-breve” – there are some important differences. Firstly, Quickbrev is more expensive (27 kr, as opposed to 19 kr); and secondly, Quickbrev mail items have to be sent from post offices. Furthermore, because Quickbrev falls outside the universal service, Quickbrev deliveries are subject to VAT and ordinary stamps cannot be used.

Post Danmark issued a statement about the Quickbrev service on its website yesterday (1 June). The statement added that cost of the “B-breve” letter remains 8 kr – and this is now the standard ordinary service.

The Post Danmark statement advised that ordinary letters will now delivered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while Quickbrev mail will be delivered six days a week (Monday to Saturday).
