JD.com using delivery drones in Jiangsu

China’s online retailer JD.com has started using delivery drones in Jiangsu Province. According to reports posted by Chinese news agency Xinhua, the drones are operating around Suqian City, which is the hometown of JD.com’s founder Liu Qiangdong.

As previously reported by Post&Parcel, JD.com signalled its intention to start operating a drone delivery service in rural Chinese provinces in January.

According to the reports from the Chinese news agency, the drones can carry up to 15 kg on each trip and are currently only being used to transport parcels between depots, rather than making “last mile” deliveries to customers’ homes.
