Uber starts the global roll out of Scheduled Rides

Uber announced yesterday (9 June) that it has started the global roll out of Scheduled Rides – which will enable users to schedule UberX rides up to 30 days in advance. The roll-out started yesterday in Seattle, and “other top business travel cities” are coming onboard.

The ride-booker will be sent reminders both 24 hours and 30 minutes in advance of their pickup, and they will also be notified once the ride is on the way.

In its blog post announcing the new service, Uber said: “Since the option to schedule a ride is a top-requested feature from business travelers, we’re excited to give priority access to riders who have Business Profiles or are linked to their company’s Uber for Business account.”

Uber sees the Scheduled Rides as being particularly useful for business travelers arranging their early morning rides to the airport – but the scheduling feature may also be something that Uber can extend across to its delivery services in the future.
