New GM for Palletways Oxford

New GM for Palletways Oxford

Greg Birt has joined Palletways Oxford as the new general manager. Birt previously worked in contract management and headed up compliance at Yodel. He was also a general manager at TNT UK Ltd.

The appointment comes as operations get underway at Palletways Oxford’s new depot in Abingdon. The 46,000 square foot facility is three times the size of its former site in Didcot and houses the firm’s 36 staff members and 18-strong fleet of 18 and 12 tonne and artic lorries.

The site now allows the team to process in excess of 500 pallets per day while providing connectivity with the Palletways Hubs in Fradley Park, Lichfield and Greenford via the A34 and M4.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team here at Palletways Oxford and to utilising the fantastic facilities at the new depot,” said Birt. “This new chapter will allow us to provide more businesses in the Reading and Oxford area with the opportunity of using the market leading Palletised Freight Network across Europe.

“I’m passionate about growing our business through utilisation of our increased customer haulage volumes and our increased storage facilities. We have already started to integrate a new tender process for renewing our vehicles to provide a one-stop shop for all our maintenance and servicing needs.”

Palletways Oxford is one of more than 110 members of the Palletways UK network and currently cover postcode regions OX1-4, 10-14, 33 and 44 in Oxford and RG1,2, 4-6, 8-10, 12, 30, 21, 40, 41, 42 and 45 in Reading.
