eBay adjusts estimated delivery dates for USPS shipping

Effective from today (1 September), eBay is updating the estimated delivery date for seller on-time shipping performance for USPS First-Class Mail to three days and USPS Priority Mail Express to one day. In a notice posted on its announcement board yesterday, eBay advised its sellers: “If you use these services and are shipping within your stated handling time, you should not be impacted by this change.

“Shipping outside your stated handling time increases the risk that your item may arrive late, which can impact your on-time shipping and overall selling performance.”

On its own corporate website, USPS advises that First-Class Mail offers delivery in one to three business days, so the eBay estimate delivery date should be doable. However, the new eBay policy will probably be a concern for some sellers. Previously, the estimated delivery date for First class mail was the seller’s handle time plus five days; and now it will be handle time plus three days. For USPS Priority express, the estimated delivery date was the seller’s handle time plus two days; and now it will be handle time plus one day.
