Download milestone for YourDPD app
DPD has announced that its YourDPD app has chalked up its one millionth user download. Launched in May 2016, Your DPD enables customers to create their own profile, set their delivery preferences and track deliveries. The app also allows customers to request that drivers always avoid certain times of the day, such as the school run.
Your DPD users can set-up a series of preferences for those occasions when they are not going to be at home for a delivery. These can include specifying their chosen neighbour to receive deliveries, a designated ‘safe place’ on their own property with a photograph, and their preferred DPD Pickup parcel shop for parcels to be taken to.
“It’s a fantastic achievement to reach 1 million downloads in such a short space of time,” said DPD’s CEO Dwain McDonald.
“We’ve had so much positive feedback from users. You wouldn’t really expect a parcel delivery app to generate this kind of a response, but it makes peoples’ lives easier, makes them feel they are in control and helps them get their hands on their stuff quicker. It has become a very empowering tool for more than a million online shoppers.
“We know that one of the most popular features is the ability to tell us times of the day that aren’t convenient for a delivery. We always use the example of the school run, but there are lots of other uses for that feature. The option to go back to customers who were out earlier in the day and make a successful delivery when they get home is streets ahead of every other delivery company, and is just one of the reasons customers vote us number one, again and again.
“It is amazing to see how quickly customers have embraced the app and learned how to tailor the features to their own lifestyle. It takes personalisation to a whole new level and it is clear from the response we’ve had so far that customers want more of this kind of tech-based personalisation.”
DPD has produced a short film to explain how the app works: http://www.dpd.co.uk/lp/yourdpd/index.html#video
