STO Express shares a vision of warehouse automation

A YouTube video of robots at work in a Shentong (STO) Express parcel sorting centre in Hangzhou has giving the pubic a glimpse into how automation is transforming the post and parcel industry. The YouTube video, which has been shared by the People’s Daily, South China Morning Post and TechCrunch, shows Hikvision robots scurrying around the warehouse floor, carrying parcels on their backs and then flipping their lids to send the parcels into the chutes beneath them.

According to the reports, the robots can halve production costs and boost both the speed and accuracy of the sorting process.

The South China Morning Post quoted an STO Express spokesperson as saying: “We use these robots in two of our centres in Hangzhou right now.

“We want to start using these across the country, especially in our bigger centres.”
