Texas State Senate paving the way for self-driving vehicle testing

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

Texas could soon be the latest US state to see self-driving vehicles on its public roads, after the State Senate’s Transportation Committee approved a bill authored by Senator Kelly Hancock.

The bill, SB 2205, was passed by the Committee last night (19 April).

The Texas bill would permit autonomous vehicles to take part in road tests on public highways provided they comply with the relevant federal laws, are registered by the Texas DMV and have an on-board recorder to track data in case of incidents.
