Russian and Slovenian posts mulling joint facility in Maribor

Russian Post and Pošta Slovenije are considering plans to set up a joint logistics centre at Maribor Airport to handle international parcel deliveries. A report published in The Slovenian Times quoted the Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov as saying: “We decided to set up a joint venture to try and fight for the European parcel delivery market.”

The report said that Nikiforov has been involved in talks with Slovenia’s Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek, who was reported as saying: “This project is about keeping up with the rapid pace of digital retail. I am confident we will make it possible for our post to develop a digital retail centre transferring goods into the EU.”
