UKP Worldwide invests in DESW

Lee Bucktrout, the Managing Director of the mail and parcel delivery specialist UKP Worldwide (UKPW), has invested in DES Worldwide(DESW). Founded in 2003 by Phil Coleman, DESW specialises in handling complex international direct entry mail, customising international mailings to the local markets they are being sent.

More recently, DESW has extended its reach beyond the wholesale market, developing new delivery options to e-commerce brands and retailers.

In a statement sent to Post&Parcel today (22 June), UKPW said that the investment in DESW will enable it to add “new parcel delivery solutions, and new and better international delivery routes to its existing ecommerce portfolio”.

According to UKPW: “Phil Coleman and his team have specialised in developing integrated end-to-end international solutions providing true added value for their retail customers.

“A key advantage for UKPW’S retailers will be access to DESW’s parcel tracking portal, PacketPort, which  provides simple and straightforward collection, tracking, fully managed returns, accurate record keeping and reporting on ecommerce shipments. PacketPort has the significant benefit of being easily integrated into existing customer systems and providing  total control and transparency over shipments from door-to-door.

“UKPW specialises in distributing direct mail, catalogues, magazines and ecommerce goods. The investment in DESW will help UKPW increase its share of the ecommerce market by combining expertise to provide a clear commercial advantage for customers who are seeking a competitively priced and better user experience for the despatch of their parcels.”

Bucktrout added: “My investment in DESW enables us to expand the very strong range of existing products and services we offer to businesses wishing to trade cross-border. This is a great opportunity for both businesses, DES is a strategic partner that complements our work  in international parcel delivery services and will support us in capturing more opportunities and value in the rapidly growing  ecommerce market.”

Meanwhile, UKPW has also announced that Paul Taylor has been appointed to develop the company’s strategic activity in the mail and parcels market. Taylor was previously with Spring Global Delivery Solutions and before that Swiss Post International.

“We are delighted to be working with Paul,” said Bucktrout. “Paul’s senior level experience, his knowledge of the cross-border market and proven ability to build a successful, dynamic and cohesive team makes him a first rate asset.”
