Alibaba extends Taobao reach

Alibaba is launching “Taobao Collection”, a selection of leading products from its online marketplace, in three new Southeast Asian markets, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. Selling through the Lazada Group (which is 83% owned by Alibaba), Taobao Collection offers a range of eight million products in categories ranging from home and beauty to sports and consumer electronics.

According to a notice posted on the semi-official Alizila website today (27 September), the Indonesia channel launched on Monday, while selling on the Philippines and Thailand channels will begin on 11 October and 1 November respectively.
