Shiels to take over as ArrowXL CEO

ArrowXL has announced that Charlie Shiels is to take on the role of CEO on an interim basis, following Ian Howell’s decision to leave the business. Shiels joined ArrowXL as COO in February 2017 from DPD where he spent over 20 years, including 15 years on the Executive Board.

ArrowXL’s Executive Team will report directly into Shiels as the business continues the next stage of its transformation.

Richard Neal, a Shareholder Representative said: “I would like to extend my personal thanks to Ian for his excellent contribution and commitment to the business over the last four years and wish him every success for the future. He was a key part of the team that turned around ArrowXL’s financial and operational performance, transforming the business from a loss-making division into a profitable, industry award winning, standalone business.  I am also delighted that Charlie is taking up the Interim CEO role and we can look forward to an exciting future for the business.”

Charlie Shiels said: “This is an exciting time for ArrowXL as we invest heavily in our people and infrastructure and continue on our journey to consistently deliver market leading customer service.  We are delighted that our replacement Droitwich Hub is now up and running and we are confident of delivering an excellent service to all our customers during the forthcoming peak period. I am delighted to take on this role and will continue to prioritise improving the customer’s delivery experience and supporting our retail partners at all times.”

Ian Howell commented: “It’s been an honour and a privilege over the past four years to be part of such a great team and I am extremely proud of the turnaround and success story that is Arrow XL. With such amazing people, I’m confident that I leave ArrowXL set up for continued success in its ongoing transformation as the UK’s leading two-man logistics partner.”
