Speed Welshpool lands Fallen Fruits contract
Ludlow-based Fallen Fruits has appointed Speed Welshpool to deliver its garden giftware to retailers across the UK. Speed Welshpool will be delivering around 500 pallets per month to a range of major retailers including Amazon depots, National Trust, Grattan, garden centre chains, independents and high street gift shops. The haulier will also make occasional pallet deliveries to Europe.
Nick Jackson, operations manager at Fallen Fruits, explained why Speed Welshpool, a member of the Palletways network, clinched the deal: “Speed Welshpool proved it could provide an efficient service into Amazon depots, which our previous carrier was unable to do. This meant we were forced into using one of Amazon’s preferred carriers which was costly. Using Speed Welshpool means we’re able to combine our Amazon deliveries with our normal traffic and achieve significant cost savings.
“What also impressed us was having visibility of our consignments which we can track really simply using Palletways’ online portal. Its archway scanning process has also proved useful when we want to track pallet conditions and movements.”
George Edwards, managing director at Speed Welshpool, added: “Fallen Fruits had worked with a previous carrier for more than ten years so we really had to prove our worth. Our ability to deliver into Amazon distribution centres combined with our technical expertise in terms of tracking and tracing consignments were key. We’re looking forward to increasing the number of pallet movements as Fallen Fruits continues to grow.”
In addition to palletised freight, Speed Welshpool, based on the Wales/England border, handles small parcels to awkward and heavy irregular freight. It also offers a bespoke logistics and haulage service.
