London Assembly Transport Committee reviews drone delivery issues
The London Assembly Transport Committee has been exploring the “potential scale, benefits and risks of using drone and droid technology for deliveries in London”. In a meeting held on Tuesday (1o October), the Committee members mulled over questions such as whether drone deliveries can viable in built-up urban areas; and if drones and land-based have the potential to take freight traffic off London’s roads.
Panelists giving evidence at the meeting included: Henry Harris-Burland, Vice-President for Marketing, Starship Technologies; Professor Alan McKinnon, Keuhne Logistics University, Hamburg (via Skype); Tony Henley, Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS); Michael Hurwitz, Director of Transport Innovation, Transport for London; and Lauren Sager Weinstein, Chief Data Officer, Transport for London.
