MetaPack reports “massive” increase in Cyber Weekend parcel deliveries
MetaPack has reported a 26% year-on-year increase in delivery volumes processed across its platform over Black Friday and the Cyber Weekend.
In a statement sent to Post&Parcel today (29 November), MetaPack said that this surge “outpaced even the most optimistic predictions” made by the company in the run up to the Peak weekend.
The company said that it shipped a total of 11m parcels on behalf of European based retailers and brands between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
MetaPack said that its volumes reflected other industry intelligence which indicated that while shopping on the high street on Black Friday fell away, conversely eCommerce sales rose.
In terms of industry sectors, MetaPack saw the greatest growth of orders processed in sport and leisure with a 34% uplift, clothes and fashion which rose by 32% and toys and games where uplift was 22%.
“We did anticipate healthy growth over the Cyber Weekend,” said Bruce Fair, Chief Revenue Officer at MetaPack, “However, these figures are beyond our expectations and reflect not only the continued huge popularity of Black Friday and the Cyber Weekend, but the success of our retail and carrier partners in engaging customers and meeting their eCommerce expectations.”
MetaPack also reported that it will again be tracking the delivery volume changes through the peak period with particular emphasis on parcel volumes every Monday from now until Christmas. A separate Carrier Performance Heat Map will illustrate how the top 10 UK carriers are performing. Further details are available at http://www.metapack.com/peak-index-2017/
