Austrian Post’s latest NFT showcases technical innovation

Today, June 23, the new Crypto stamp 5.0 from Austrian Post goes on sale. The motifs of the Crypto stamp 5.0 can interact with each other for the first time and thus create completely new NFT motifs. Patricia Liebermann, Head of Philately, Österreichische Post AG commented: “With the issuance of the Crypto stamp 5.0, we are holding at 999,999 pieces and are thus close to the million. Austrian Post’s Crypto stamp is a consistent project and responds to the volatile crypto market with stability and consistency. That’s why we dare to be ‘real crazy’ this year and remain a pioneer in the international market. The trust of the community proves that only the original combines safety and innovation.” ALSO NEW: CRYPTO STAMP SAFEThe latest issue of the Crypto stamp arrives this time with a new expansion: the roaring bear and the golden safe.

  • The bear stands for fluctuations and falling prices in the financial world. The post thus documents the crypto winter that has kept crypto enthusiasts in suspense over the past few months.
  • The golden safe has a real, hinged door that hides one of three symbols: a pacifier, a bottle or a rainbow. The QR code for activation is located on the back for the first time.

The two motifs of the crypto stamp can now be merged for the first time. The pacifier transforms into a cute baby bear in combination with the roaring bear, the bottle also shrinks the bear – into a pouting version – and additionally colours the background in the unique colour of the original Crypto stamp 5.0 bear. The rainbow has the highest rarity value, it shrinks the bear and also gives it a rainbow-colored background.

In addition to the magic between bear and safe, there is another surprise: the bear’s NFT is available this time in a single, one-of-a-kind, new colour that makes the Crypto stamp 5.0 bear sparkle on the blockchain – a reference to the millionth issue. The resulting motif is stored in the owner’s wallet. Unused crypto stamp safes should definitely be kept well, they could also be useful for other crypto stamp issues at a later date. The two motifs of the Crypto stamp 5.0 are issued in 60,000 pieces each (bear) or Crypto stamp Safe in 65,499 pieces each, they have a nominal value of 9.90 euros and can be used like a conventional stamp for franking letter items. Like its predecessors, the Crypto stamp 5.0 has an integrated NFC chip for authenticity verification. With an NFC-enabled smartphone, not only can the authenticity be verified, but the digital twin can also be activated in the blockchain. It is only by scanning the QR code on the front that the roaring bear comes to life. The new Crypto stamps are available from today in the online shop and onchain store of Austrian Post at cryptostamp.com, at the collector’s service and in all post offices and philately shops.
