Boxeway smart lockers

Boxeway is a smart locker developer that is growing in Latin America. Given the exponential growth of e-commerce and the high adoption of smartphones acquiring products through the internet has gone from being a practice of a few enthusiasts to a rising trend in the region.

Today, 10% of the world’s online buyers come from Latin American countries, according to sources from Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID). With this change in the way of buying, the logistic industry has had to adapt to the new times and incorporate technology and innovation to expand its offer on last mile logistics. That is why it is glimpsed how new alternatives of delivery of products emerge with great speed, aimed to complement the traditional home delivery.

Pick up points, fast tracks, drones, robots and smart lockers are quicker and more efficient alternatives that make product delivery simpler. In fact, eLockers are options that make the product delivery process cost less, as well they are also an important part of the customer’s buying experience. Boxeway has become a regional reference offering technological eLocking solutions and being suppliers of important companies in logistics, e-commerce and the retail sector, such as OCA in Argentina, AEX in Paraguay and Ripley in Chile.  Among its services, Boxeway offers a portfolio of different types of smart lockers (with tailor- made software) such as configurable parcel sizes, modular panels and some components that allows autonomy and stability. The Boxeway smart lockers are designed with a special focus one satisfy the needs and characteristics of the region. Boxeway smart lockers are economically accessible and they are supported with local service.

OCA, an important private Argentine mail company, launched in 2015 the “eLocker OCA” a smart lockers network, developed by Boxeway that offers an innovative solution for the logistics of e-commerce distribution in Argentina. Currently, this organization has twelve operating automated pick up points located in strategic locations – service stations, shopping malls and supermarkets in Buenos Aires – with high traffic and hours of operation extended every day of the week.

Another company that relies on Boxeway technology is AEX in Paraguay. The Paraguayan mail firm includes intelligent boxes to provide improved delivery alternatives to its clients. AEX currently has two smart lockers points and aims to create a network of automatic distribution points located throughout Asunción. “We have partnered with Biggie Express, a chain of convenience stores, with 24-hour service, excellent location and high security. The idea is to place the smart lockers in each Biggie location in order to achieve a high level of coverage,” says Andrés Veirano, Managing Director of AEX.

Ripley is one of the most important regional retailers and after an initial trial period with Boxeway, the Chilean company plans to incorporate 40 smart lockers to be located in its own stores in Chile. The project is based on improving the experience of its online shoppers who can pick up their products automatically in their stores.

“Some signs of maturity of eCommerce in the region are clear, especially the qualified demand of users. That’s why companies are now working to solve the problems of the last mile: making the process more efficient, reducing costs and above all providing a better customer experience”, explains Juan X. Gruss, Boxeway CEO.

Boxeway is an organization prepared for the challenges of Latin America, with local support that understands the needs of local businesses and offers direct and close support to all its customers. “We are taking with great enthusiasm the call to participate as suppliers of this technology in Mexico, Peru and Brazil, among others. With no doubt, the region has awakened “, adds Juan X. Gruss.

Technologically, the Boxeway platform was designed to be robust both in hardware and in software, because it has features that prepare it to offer a service of high availability and security. This is a key factor for organizations operating at the local level. Boxeway also has its own smart lockers network called “Packasap” that has twelve points located in points of high traffic in Buenos Aires, Argentina. With the focus on large companies, SMEs, online entrepreneurs, and end users who use the services to deliver or receive things once registered in the platform, Packasap aims to simplify daily logistics (first or last mile) with a special focus on user experience.
