DDC set to start development on “heavy lifting” drone

Drone Delivery Canada (DDC) has started development on its latest drone, called ‘The Condor’, which will be able to provide payload capacities of up to 400lbs.

In a statement issued on Wednesday (21 March), Tony Di Benedetto, CEO of DDC, said: “The Condor will be our first delivery drone that offers our customers a platform for greater capacities of bulk shipments.”

The Condor, which will be able to fly for around 150km, will have a “considerably larger payload compartment” compared to DDC’s Raven and Sparrow drones.

DDC said that it is looking to start testing the Condor at its testing facilities in late 2018 with “multiple customers, both new and existing”.
