Canada Post aiming to “redefine convenience”

Canada Post reports that its new “concept stores” are “redefining convenience” with their “cool, customer-friendly features”.

In a statement issued on Friday (20 July), Canada Post said that each concept store functions like a “miniature innovation lab” where it can test new services and “try fresh ways of meeting the evolving needs of online shoppers”.

Doug Ettinger, Canada Post’s chief commercial officer, commented: “These new stores signify the importance we place on that relationship and the need to evolve to serve Canadians’ changing postal needs.”

Two of the most popular concept store features are self-serve shipping stations and parcel drop boxes. Some concept stores also offer enhanced features, such as a fitting room where customers can try on online clothing purchases right away, and arrange to return whatever doesn’t fit. In some locations, customers can also use the “drive-thru” parcel centres to collect their packages.

Canada Post currently has three “full scale” concept store locations in: Richmond Hill, Ontario; Edmonton, Alberta; and Vancouver, British Columbia. In addition, Canada Post operates six other locations across the country which offer self-serve shipping but are not classified as concept stores.
