Korea Post to start internet savings from July

South Korea’s state postal agency, Korea Post, has said it will begin operation of Internet-based savings from July as part of efforts to strengthen its financial services. To expand its Internet banking services including ordinary deposits, the state mail service monopoly plans to offer higher interest rates than the market rates, said Koo Yung-bo, president of Korea Post, in a press conference.

Korea Post and TPG join forces in strategic co-operation

The Postal Service of the Republic of Korea (Korea Post) and mail, express
and logistics company TPG N.V. today announced that they have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will provide the foundation for a
broad strategic co-operation. This builds upon the successful partnership in
international express between Korea Post and TPG that was entered into in
2001.

Korea Post and TNT Post Group set up alliance

Korea Post, South Korea’s postal service operator, said Monday it has signed a strategic partnership with TNT Post Group NV, the Dutch logistics and postal company.

The deal is part of Korea Post’s plan to expand its foreign parcel delivery service, the state postal service operator said in a statement.

Korea Post hopes to use its partnership with TNT Post Group as a foothold for its other overseas businesses.

North Korea promises secure E-mail service

North Korea, an isolated country known for its totalitarian control on information, has begun international e-mail service that “guarantees the privacy of correspondence,” an official news report said.

The new e-mail service is provided by Pyongyang’s International Communications Center, according to its official Korean Central News Agency.
