Wages increase at Russian Post
Russian Post has increased staff wages by 7% during the first nine months of 2010. For the entire year, Russian postal employees will enjoy a rise of up to 12%, it has been reported.
Statistics were revealed by Alexander Kiselev, CEO of Russian Post, during a recent meeting with the All-Russian Communications Workers Union.
He admitted that increasing staff wages was crucial, stating that salaries in the past had been too low.
However, employees saw their wages increase this year due to better productivity within the organisation.
Kiselev said: “To date, one of the main problems of Russian Post, with more than a 400,000 workforce, is insufficient wages.
“The company is constantly looking at ways to improve it. In this regard, one of the priorities of the federal postal operator is to create conditions to increase the actual income of their employees.
“A significant step forward in this direction will be the introduction of the company piecework and bonus pay systems.
“So in 2010, changing the remuneration system, the optimisation of staff, and administrative and management measures aimed at stimulating the branches of the Russian Post … made it possible to increase the average wage of employees.
“During the first nine months of 2010 it amounted to 11,773 rubles, 7% higher than average wages over the same period in 2009. Overall, 2010 is planned to ensure the growth of wages of employees of Russian Post up to 12%.
“In 2011, activities to optimise the network and the introduction of the piecework wage system, the introduction of fees for the provision of network services and bonuses, as well as the growth of bonus payments, will increase the wages of postal workers no less than 12%.”
