Caroline Ven and Laurent Levaux join board at bpost

Belgium’s bpost has made changes to its board of directors with the appointment of two new representatives for the federal government. The changes were made in an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders last week, following the formation of a new government in Belgium last month.

Most of the members of the bpost board have been reappointed with new terms to run until January 16, 2012, although chief executive Johnny Thijs has a term running until January 7, 2014.

The government has five directors on the bpost board, while private equity firm CVC Capital Partners, which has a 50% stake in the company, has four directors. CEO Thijs is appointed as an independent member of the bpost board.

Under the new term, Martine Durez, president of the board since 2006, will continue to chair the newly composed board.

bpost said the Belgian state will also continue to be represented on the board by Arthur Goethals, the president of supermarket operators Delhaize Group, and a member of the bpost board since 2006, along with Luc Lallemand, the CEO of Belgian railway operator Infrabel and a member of the bpost board since 2002.

Two new representatives for the Belgian state are Laurent Levaux, who has been CEO at ABX Logistics since March 20023, and the economist Caroline Ven, the CEO of business network VKW who was a member of the cabinet of the previous Belgian government.

CVC Capital Partners will continue to be represented on the bpost board by its managing partner Geert Duyck, who has been on the board since 2006, along with its partner Soren Vestergaard-Poulsen, who has been on the board since 2006.

It will also continue to be represented on the bpost board by Post Danmark CEO (and PostNord deputy CEO) KB Pedersen, who has been on the bpost board since 2009, and Post Danmark CFO Bjarne Wind, who has been on the bpost board since 2008.
