Deutsche Post DHL responds to “parcels on buses” media reports

Articles published by a number of Australia-based news media outlets today have suggested that DHL is planning to start transporting parcels in the holds of long-distances buses operated by Postbus – but the company emphasised to Post&Parcel this morning there are “no concrete plans”. Postbus, a subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL, has been operating long-distance buses across Germany since 1 November 2013. The company, which currently has a fleet of about 90 buses and covers around 120 cities, was set up as a joint venture with ADAC but is now operated exclusively by Deutsche Post DHL.

Responding to the media reports about the “plans” to put parcels on the buses, a Deutsche Post DHL spokesperson said: “This is not correct. We could imagine it is possible and we are thinking about it. But there is really nothing concrete.”
