SHOP.CA to run pilot tests with Drone Delivery Canada

Canadian multi-merchant e-commerce marketplace SHOP.CA is set to run a drone delivery pilot programme. The company will be using technology from Drone Delivery Canada (DDC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday (8 September), DDC commented: “Drone Delivery Canada and SHOP.CA will commence testing and integrating DDC’s drone delivery platform with the existing SHOP.CA logistics framework. DDC’s technology will provide unparalleled, just in time delivery for SHOP.CA customers who desire immediate product delivery.”

Tony Di Benedetto, DDC’s CEO, said that the two companies will “bring a new level of retail experience to Canadian consumers”.

The DDC statement added: “The drone delivery service will be commercially available to customers of SHOP.CA once all necessary government approvals have been obtained.”
