Parcel business fuels India Post growth

India Post recorded a 37% revenue growth in 2014-2015 and a 117% increase in the first half of the current fiscal year, Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has been quoted as saying by local media. The media also reported the Minister as saying that post and parcel related services had contributed significantly to this growth.

Prasad commented on the company’s performance at an inauguration last week of India Post’s new E-commerce Parcel Processing Centre in Parel. The centre is reportedly processing about 7,000 parcels a day, but when running at full capacity it will be able to handle 30,000.
