DHL and Airborne Express poised to take on the US

DHL announced today it has reached a major milestone in the integration of DHL and Airborne Express. After only six months, both companies have integrated the majority of their ground and courier networks, and are now launching several new programs for customers. Shipping and logistics customers will benefit from the combination of an expanded domestic portfolio, and a powerful global network. The newly combined DHL offers a seamless customer experience; one combined product offering for new customers; one contact for sales representation; one pricing program for new customers; one integrated ground network; one courier for pickup and delivery; one web-based shipping solution; one world class web site at http://www.DHL-usa.com, and one customer service number (1-800-CALL DHL). "Shipping and logistics customers have enthusiastically embraced the marriage of these two world-class organizations, as it provides them with a viable, flexible alternative in a market that sorely needs both," said John Fellows, CEO of DHL Holdings (USA), Inc. "Customers of the new DHL are empowered with more choices in their shipping options than ever before, as they reap the benefits of the most extensive global transportation network in the industry." Integrated Product line A full, global product portfolio is now available to help customers manage their most formidable shipping challenges. DHL's new U.S. product portfolio provides shippers with the best of both worlds — the world-class international services of DHL powerfully combined with the strong domestic service offerings of Airborne. DHL customers now have access to more domestic delivery options, including several next day delivery options, the prepaid ShipReady (formerly FlightReady) service, and DHL@home (formerly airborne@home), a best-in-breed business-to-residential delivery service in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service. In addition, customers now have access to DHL's extensive global network, including DHL's International Services, Logistics Services, Air Freight & Ocean Services, and Global Mail. (For a full view of DHL's combined new product line, please see the product portfolio below.) New Web Site Today, DHL launches a brand new web site at www.DHL-usa.com. In addition to several new online self-service shipping capabilities, customers will notice expanded tracking options, enhanced international support features, and improved ground service mapping. Customer Service All customer service functions have been integrated to provide a single point of contact, at 1-800-CALL DHL. New DHL customers, as well as heritage customers of DHL and Airborne, now have a single point of contact to receive the highest levels of customer support in the industry. Freight Forwarding Integration DHL has consolidated its U.S. freight services into its dedicated logistics division. DHL has also transferred all Airborne international air freight and ocean customers to the logistics division, which provides customized worldwide logistics solutions for air and sea freight, regardless of size and weight. The combination of DHL's express services and air, ocean and domestic heavyweight freight services, along with its customs brokerage and supply chain services, enables the new DHL to become the single source for all customers' shipping and logistics needs. Information Technology DHL has consolidated all IT functions across the Americas into one location, DHL's Americas Information Services Center (AMIS) in Scottsdale, Arizona. The AMIS facility is a state-of-the-art global data center capable of both serving the DHL business in the Americas and managing global shared services, while at the same time reducing overall I.S. costs, improving service, and supporting increased collaboration between various I.S. departments. One of three central command points for DHL's global computing and telecommunications network, the Scottsdale facility ensures customers have the highest level of support twenty-four hours a day. Rebranding New DHL courier uniforms are being introduced this month. Rebranding activities are now underway, with the new DHL yellow and red rapidly being introduced on all facilities, drop boxes, vehicles, marketing materials and packaging. "The culmination of many months of planning and preparation has paid off, as business shippers now have access to a new, dynamic alternative in the U.S. market," said John Fellows, CEO of DHL Holdings (USA), Inc. "The new DHL will give customers what they want; best-in-class service tailored to the needs of our customers, at the best value in the industry."
