WE DON’T WANT TO LOSE LOTREX, SAYS PALLETLINE
Palletline feels confident enough to announce Lotrex as its partner for distribution in France.
The firms have been working together for several months but Palletline wanted to be certain that the two networks are close enough in their views on customer service for long- term future before going public.
A lot of French transport firms appear to have the attitude that delivery can wait until they have a truck going near the delivery point, says Palletline chairman Bob Russet. His network was looking for better than that and appears to have found it with Lotrex.
A charter on operating standards and service levels has been signed and the service will be formally launched on January 12.
Relatively few French truck drivers have mobile phones, so instant checking on status is difficult at present. But Lotrex will inform Palletline members of any service failures by 9am the following morning.
Service levels from the UK are 38 hours, or 72 hours for some parts of the south and east of France. In France, most deliveries are made within 24 hours of the pallet arriving at the Lotrex hub in Gonesse, north of Paris.
Lotrex has 85 member companies and six regional hubs.
