Pitney Bowes provides online postage solution for eBay and PayPal customers

Pitney Bowes Inc have announced that eBay, The World’s Online Marketplace, selected Pitney Bowes as the technology provider for a completely browser-based online postage solution that gives both eBay.com and PayPal customers quick and easy access to shipping services. The new online postage solution simplifies the process of calculating and paying for postage and accessing shipping services offered by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).

“We are very pleased to team up with eBay to deliver the world’s first completely browser-based Internet postage application,” said Neil Metviner, President, Pitney Bowes Direct, which serves the small business marketplace. “Our application represents the next generation of Internet postage technology. It is designed to deliver maximum customer convenience and postal revenue security. This solution is another step in our strategy to deliver innovative mailing solutions to an expanded customer set, including consumers and small businesses.”

The new solution, which is based on Pitney Bowes’ Internet postage technology, enables customers to select a shipping option, print the shipping label and pay for the postage via their PayPal account. This new streamlined process eliminates the need to download software, provide unique registration and pre-fund a postage account. Once the label is purchased, both the buyer and seller will be able to track the delivery status of the package online.

“Now, without leaving the eBay or PayPal sites, our customers can simply purchase postage online and print shipping labels from their computer,” said Gary Dillabough, vice president of eBay Strategic Partnerships. “The technology provided by Pitney Bowes is an integral part of eBay’s Online Postage solution, allowing us to make shipping more integrated, fast and reliable for eBay buyers and sellers.”
