UK independent parcel carrier, Yodel, has appointed a chief operating officer and chief commercial officer to its senior executive team, to support operational development and growth of the business.

Network operations director, Carl Moore, is promoted to chief operating officer, with a focus on driving service improvements and efficiency. Having made significant contributions to Yodel’s final mile operation and strategy since joining Yodel in 2018, the new role broadens Carl’s remit to cover sort and transport.

Carl has extensive knowledge and experience of the logistics sector, having spent over 30 years in the industry, including 15 years in senior roles at UPS, UK Mail, ANC Express and FedEx.

Sam Holden has joined the carrier as chief commercial officer, overseeing new business, account management and Yodel’s international portfolio. Sam joins from Ideal Shopping Direct, where she was chief operating officer. She has extensive experience of strategic client engagement having held senior positions in online shopping, marketing and financial industries including Shop Direct and Otto Group.

Commenting on the announcement, executive chairman, John Hughes, said; “Yodel is winning new business on the back of yet another successful Peak period. The stability of our operation is proven and the launch of new products and innovations into the market primes Yodel to become a market leader.

“These organisational changes will allow us to build on the sterling work carried out by the board over the last 18 months, to accelerate the pace of change and to support our strategy, ensuring that our frontline colleagues, clients and their customers are at the heart of everything we do.”
