Japan Post adds China Express Mail Service

The Asahi Shimbun In a bid to keep pace with Western private-sector rivals such as DHL International Ltd. and FedEx Corp., Japan Post on Monday will launch a faster express mail service to Shanghai from selected post offices in Tokyo and Osaka

Working with its Chinese counterpart, Japan Post will get letters and parcels to the Chinese port city as much as 24 hours faster than its ordinary express mail serviceFor an additional 400 yen over the cost of ordinary express mail service, letters and parcels accepted by noon at 25 designated post offices in Tokyo and Osaka are guaranteed to reach Shanghai by 5 p.m. the following day.

Sea mail will also be sped up.
