Wincanton wins five year transportation contract

Logistics group Wincanton PLC has been appointed by supermarket chain WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC to provide transportation services from three distribution centres.

The five-year contract will see Wincanton manage all transportation planning and operations from the three locations to support Morrisons’ network of stores.

Wincanton will also be responsible for vehicle maintenance at five Morrisons sites through its fleet management business, Pullman Fleet Services.

Adrian Colman, Wincanton’s chief executive, said the “significant” contract win underlined the company’s position as a leading logistics provider for the grocery retail market.

“We are delighted to have been appointed by such a recognisable brand and look forward to supporting the operation and its network of stores throughout the country”, he added.
