CAE Delivers terminates its Republic of Ireland services

CAE Delivers (formerly City Air Express Ltd) has sent a letter to customers stating that it has decided to stop all delivery services in the Republic of Ireland for its B2C and B2B Customers.

The letter, signed by Group MD Jamie Knapper, explains why the services have been terminated: “Over the past two years our cost of sale and overheads have increased drastically within the region (due to fuel rises, labour and insurance increases) with very little increase of sales revenue by customer.

“In fact a majority of customers have asked for a rate reduction. This has led to other offices within the group bearing the cost for the Dublin office at a time when the exchange rate has move against us due to Brexit.

“CAE Delivers offers an extremely specialist service within ROI, and we feel that a preponderance of our customers do not want to pay for this service, and do not fully understand how difficult deliveries become when there is a high-cost base per carton, due to the topography v population density of the country.”

The company says it still plans to invest extra money and resources in Northern Ireland as “we feel that there is a good growth potential with the B2C, B2B and specialist services in this region.”
